Experiment: To draw superdeformed people/things/whatnot and have them look decent. Also, this counts as yet another attempt to draw the Dragon correctly.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YUU! The earth has been blessed by twenty-four years of this excellent gentleman's presence! Everyone, get drunk immediately!!
Although this was pretty much just an inked sketch of an in-joke, it's as finished as a piece ever gets and therefore didn't deserve the "scrap" rating. ^^ What we have here, obviously, is the Dragon (whose significance is too complex to drone about here) biting Great Teacher Terao on the head with a warm and fuzzy intent. I can only ever draw humans superdeformed, hence the reason why Yuu is not being depicted as his symbol-self.
The sad thing about this little doodle is that I've spent years trying to draw the Dragon correctly and gave up over and over because I could never grab that essential feeling that defined it; consequently, even lines that were decently accurate felt disgustingly -wrong-. And damn me if this is not the most accurate depiction I have ever made of it (apart from the superdeformed look) in all these years of trying, especially since I wasn't even REALLY trying this time. Irony = thick + hearty.
Finished just yesterday, on Yuu's birthday, but uploaded on March 26.
